2. Check the lot

Size, frontage, slope, easements and overlays decide what you can build.

3. Titled or untitled

Untitled lots settle later. Ask for the expected title date and what happens if it is late.

4. Finance

Land loans and construction loans work differently. Speak to your lender early.

5. Build

Pick a builder whose designs fit the lot and the estate guidelines.
